La modelo, ataviada con un mant贸n verde pardo, mira con gesto serio al espectador mientras despliega un abanico y levanta su falda para poder proseguir su paseo por la vega del Manzanares. Al fondo se intuye, desdibujado, el Palacio Real. A medio camino entre el retrato y la pintura costumbrista de tipos madrile帽os, la obra se enmarca dentro de la corriente conservadora, defensora del orgullo por lo local, en este caso el casticismo madrile帽o. Segunda medalla en la Exposici贸n Nacional de 1912; adquirido por el Estado en 1914.

My Godmother, c. 1912
Wearing a brownish-green shawl, the sitter looks at the viewer with a serious expression as she opens a fan and raises her skirt to continue her walk across the fields by the Manzanares. In the background, the Royal Palace appears as a blur. Half-way between the portrait and the costumbrista painting of typical Madrid characters, the work belongs to the conservative trend that defended local pride, in this case that of Madrid and its traditions. Second medal at the National Exhibition of 1912; acquired by the State in 1914.
